The Joe S. Mundy Global Learning Endowment gives students in the School of Civil and Environmental Engineering the opportunity to participate in an international learning experience. The program allows students to be engaged in a wide variety of educational and cultural experiences — from international research to a summer-long study abroad — that help them develop as leaders in our global community. The program also adds value to the degrees students earn at Georgia Tech, giving them a more well-rounded perspective of the world. Mundy scholars have traveled to almost every continent, visiting and studying regions all over the globe.

Alex Zickar: Summer 2014 Mundy Scholar
“In the end, I think the most crucial virtue I’ll take away from this summer is tolerance and the importance of accepting peoples’ differences. The world is full of differing ideas, cultures and beliefs. We all carry ourselves in different ways, and getting the chance to explore a bit more of the world has shown me just how important it is to understand how others live their lives. It’s not enough to live life in the dark, sheltered by a blanket of ignorance. I wanted a broader education, and that’s precisely what I got.”
