U.S. News and World Report has released its 2020 list of the nation’s best undergraduate engineering programs, featuring Georgia Tech civil engineering at No. 2 and environmental engineering at No. 4.

Civil engineering maintains the No. 2 spot for the fourth consecutive year, while environmental engineering held on to the No. 4 spot for the second time in a row.

“I am glad that our programs continue to be recognized among the very finest in the nation,” said Donald Webster, the Karen and John Huff Chair of the School of Civil and Environmental Engineering. “These outstanding rankings reflect the excellence of our students, faculty and staff as they define and solve complex problems at the interface of built, natural and social systems to serve the state of Georgia, the nation and the world.”

For the past two decades, civil engineering has ranked among the nation’s top five programs, and environmental engineering has been listed in the top 10 since the program was established at Georgia Tech in 2006.

Civil and environmental engineering are in good company—all of Georgia Tech’s undergraduate engineering programs were ranked in the nation’s top four. Overall, the College of Engineering was listed at No. 4 in the country, and No. 2 among public universities.

These elite rankings reflect the College of Engineering’s sterling reputation among its peer institutions, which help to determine the list.

“This type of peer recognition reaffirms that we are all moving in the right direction to provide an exemplary educational foundation for all of our undergraduate students,” said College of Engineering Dean Steve McLaughlin.
